Thank you to Angie Holbrook Cooper, and Leanne Allen for installing our officers. 2024 will be a great year of serving OUR communities children!
The Annual Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner is scheduled for October 22nd, 2024 @ Valley Middle School cafeteria from 4-7PM! The Spaghetti Dinner is our biggest fundraiser to help with funding our annual Easter Egg Hunt as well as our projects throughout the year (assisting with shoes for children, sponsoring athletic teams, academic teams Scouts of America, Girl Scouts, etc.). We hope to see you there!
Kiwains of Lucasville members packed 20 shoeboxes this year for Operation Christmas Child. Kiwanis of Lucasville has been packing shoeboxes for OCC for the past couple years. Each year the club packs more and more boxes. This project means a lot to these members. Every member looks forward to this project every year. Members pack 2 shoeboxes to be sent to children around the world who are less fortunate. Specials thanks to Kiwanis member Tracy Litteral for collecting and getting the shoeboxes to the drop station.
Director of Scioto County JFS and Scioto County CPS shares brief update with the Kiwanis Club of Lucasville. Tamela Moore Morton (director of Scioto County JFS and CPS) talked about the changes at JFS/ CPS since the CPS merged with JFS. Director Moore-Morton expressed her thanks for the backpacks the club donated (which was made possible by the Ohio Kiwanis Governor’s project). Director Moore-Morton also shares some exciting news that before the merger, there were 407 children in CPS custody. With the help of her spectacular team, there are now 299 children in their custody. This year alone, there have been 22 adoptions a big jump from the past year. Director Moore-Morton said that this result has been made possible by her team of dedicated individuals! Special thanks to Director Moore – Morton for speaking with the club!
The Kiwanis Club of Lucasville’s annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Tuesday, October 24th. Dinners are available for pick up and dine in. The Spaghetti dinner will be held at Valley Middle School in the Cafeteria starting at 4pm until 7pm. Dinners will consist of all you can eat spaghetti, bread, drinks and homemade desserts. A silent auction will also take place. Dinners are $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.

Kiwanis club of Lucasville held their annual Ice Cream Social on July 18th at Community of Christ church in McDermott. Members served ice cream to 30 children in the McDermott area. Special thanks to Community of Christ church for allowing us to serve the children in the area AND the use of their shelter house!
